There are also private leisure centres in the town, and Kingsthorpe Golf Centre is close to St Gregory’s Mews. Blockbuster films can be see at the Vue and Cineworld multiplex cinemas.

Northampton Museum and Art Gallery (where you can trace the town’s shoemaking history) and 78 Derngate, a house designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, are among the notable visitor attractions. Also popular are the international motor racing raceway at Brafield, and Nene White Water Centre for whitewater rafting, canoeing and kayaking. A canal museum and picturesque waterside villages can be found along the River Nene.
